Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly poised to pull out all the stops in an attempt to sign Newcastle United forward Demba Ba in January.
The 27-year-old, who scored twice on Monday night as the Magpies overcame Wigan Athletic 3-0, has a £7.5m release clause in his current contract, which expires in June 2014.
Ba has found the net 10 times this season, while no Gunners player has yet scored more than four goals.
Wenger is keen to bring a proven goalscorer to the Emirates Stadium and, according to The Sun, he plans to activate Ba's release clause and offer the player wages in excess of £60,000 per week.
Arsenal currently sit 10th in the Premier League table, 15 points behind leaders Manchester United.
