Stephane Sessegnon has ended speculation over his Sunderland future by signing a new contract at the Stadium of Light.
The Benin international had been linked with a move away from Wearside, with Arsenal and Liverpool both supposedly interested.
However, the signings of Adam Johnson and Steven Fletcher have persuaded Sessegnon that the Black Cats have the ambition to climb the Premier League.
Manager Martin O'Neill has tied down the 28-year-old, who has scored 11 goals in 58 Sunderland appearances, until 2015.
The extension is still subject to the player being granted an extension to his current work permit.
