Tottenham Hotspur 'leading race to sign Djed Spence'

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly remain as the favourites to secure a deal for Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly remained as the frontrunners to sign Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence, despite interest from the continent.

Spence has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Championship this season, making a total of 26 starts on loan at Nottingham Forest.

With less than 18 months remaining on his contract, parent club Boro will cash in on the 21-year-old this summer, a scenario which has led to many clubs monitoring developments regarding his future.

Nevertheless, according to Goal, Spurs are still fancied to eventually get a deal for the Englishman over the line with Antonio Conte keen to improve in the wing-back areas.

The same outlet has claimed that Bayern Munich have recently joined the race for Spence, although the right-sided player would likely find himself as a backup squad member at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal are among the other Premier League clubs who are said to be admirers. body check tags ::
