Liverpool have reportedly been given a boost in the race to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
Last summer, Lemar was heavily linked with a transfer to Arsenal while in recent weeks, Chelsea have been credited with an interest in the French international.
However, according to The Independent, Lemar would prefer to make the switch to Liverpool rather than secure a move to London.
Liverpool have also been linked with the 22-year-old in the past, but any future move could depend on whether Philippe Coutinho is allowed to join Barcelona.
Lemar would likely cost in the region of £90m, leaving the Merseyside giants in a position where they could cover the fee required for the attacker by selling Coutinho for over £120m.
Despite his reputation in Europe, Lemar has contributed just two goals and three assists in Ligue 1 this season.
