Tottenham Hotspur are hopeful of completing a deal for Bologna centre-back Takehiro Tomiyasu next week, according to a report.
Despite announcing the arrival of Cristian Romero from Atalanta BC on Friday, Nuno Espirito Santo's side are expected to bolster their defensive ranks further ahead of the new season.
Spurs were thought to be on the brink of signing Tomiyasu last month, only for the Japan international's participation at the Olympics to hinder negotiations.
However, Football Insider now claims that Tottenham are increasingly confident of sealing the 22-year-old's signature after reopening talks, and he could officially sign for the Lilywhites next week.
Tottenham are reported to be preparing a fresh bid of £17m for Tomiyasu, who supposedly has his heart set on a move to Spurs despite also being linked with Arsenal.
The former Sint-Truiden man has scored three goals and registered three assists in 63 games for Bologna in all competitions, and he also made three appearances for Japan at the Olympics, playing the full 90 in their third-place playoff defeat to Mexico on Friday. body check tags ::
