Arsenal youngster Tyreece John-Jules has signed his first professional contract as a player.
The 17-year-old, who celebrated his birthday just over a week ago, has been rewarded for his performances in the Gunners youth teams with a two-and-a-half-year deal.
John-Jules has scored in wins over Middlesbrough and Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup, as well as netting three goals in four appearances for the Under-23s.
The youngster told reporters that former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, who coached the Gunners' youth setup, was his inspiration when growing up.
"Growing up, I idolised him because I used to follow him and Arsenal," he said. "He only took us for two sessions because I was at Hale End at the time, and then he came up here and started coaching the Under-18s."
John-Jules has also made his debut for the England Under-17s side, scoring in a 2-0 win over the Netherlands last month.
