Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims that Alexis Sanchez is currently "half in, half out" at the club amid reports of an imminent move to Manchester United.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has described Alexis Sanchez's current situation as "half in half out" amid reports of an imminent move to Manchester United.

The Chilean was not present in the Gunners matchday squad to face Bournemouth away in the Premier League on Sunday.

With Sanchez's Arsenal contract expiring at the end of the season, a host of top clubs have been linked with the forward's signature.

Manchester City were previously believed to be the frontrunners to sign the 29-year-old, but recent reports have claimed that the Red Devils are now ahead in the race.

Speaking after the match at the Vitality Stadium, which finished 2-1 to Bournemouth, Wenger revealed that he left Sanchez out of the team to focus on the game.

"Half in, half out," the Frenchman told BBC Sport when asked about Sanchez's situation.

"You never know this kind of situation during the transfer period. Anything can happen at any moment. That is why I decided to focus on the game."

Sanchez has made 166 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 80 goals and registering 46 assists.
