Arsene Wenger has revealed that talks over a new deal for Jack Wilshere are still ongoing, as he reiterates that he wants the midfielder to remain at Arsenal.
The England international, now with less than six months to run on his current terms, opened discussions with the Gunners earlier this month.
Reports in the British press suggest that Arsenal are playing hardball with Wilshere by offering the midfielder reduced wages, while also making him undergo a full medical due to his chequered injury past.
Wenger would not confirm the validity of the speculation, but did stress that talks are currently underway.
"We know what we want. We want him to stay," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend's meeting with Crystal Palace. "After that we have to find a financial agreement with Jack that is good for him. That's what we're trying to do."
Wenger was also questioned about talk regarding the future of Mesut Ozil, insisting that the Germany international would not be leaving before the end of the season.
Alexis Sanchez's spell in North London appears to be coming to an end, however, with Manchester United close to landing the forward.
