Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov has said that he was happy with his performance in his first start for the Ligue 1 side on Saturday.
The former Manchester United striker scored Monaco's first in the 2-1 win over Sochaux, which took Claudio Ranieri's side within eight points of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
"It was a good match for me because I had the chance to score quickly," the Bulgarian told reporters.
"You can say that it is a team victory because in the end it was complicated. Sochaux tried to score a second goal but we held on."
Ranieri was also quick to point out the importance of Berbatov's performance, singling out the striker for praise after the game.
The Italian coach said: "Dimitar was very good. He played for the team, he played well, he scored."
Monaco travel to Lyon for next Saturday's Ligue 1 clash.
