Aston Villa Women will attempt to claim a fifth consecutive win when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion Women to Villa Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls will head into the final day of the season with hopes of recording a third successive victory.

Match preview

Aston Villa were left just one point clear of basement side Crystal Palace when they suffered a sixth consecutive league defeat in their home meeting with Manchester United on March 23.

However, they have since embarked on a remarkable four-game winning run to alleviate their relegation fears and move to within three points of the top half of the table.

The ninth-placed side sparked their upturn in fortunes with a narrow victory over Liverpool, before they recorded victories over North London clubs, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Natalia Arroyo's side then came from 2-1 down to continue their winning streak with a 3-2 away victory against West Ham United, thanks to goals from Ebony Salmon, Rachel Daly and Chasity Grant.

As they turn their focus to the final day of the season, Villa will take confidence from the fact that they have already beaten Brighton on home turf this year, clinching a 3-2 victory in February's FA Cup fifth-round tie.

Brighton are highly likely to finish the campaign in fifth position after winning eight, drawing four and losing nine of their 21 league games this season.

After going three games without a win, the Seagulls returned to winning ways with an exciting 3-2 away win over Everton, before they backed up that result with an impressive 4-2 victory in Monday's home clash against second-placed Arsenal.

Fran Kirby and Kiko Seike grabbed a goal apiece alongside a Jelena Cankovic brace to fire their team to their first WSL home win since November.

While they will be delighted with back-to-back victories, Brighton will still be keen to improve defensively in the final game of the season, having conceded at least two goals in each of their last five matches.

The Seagulls have the chance to complete their first-ever WSL double over Aston Villa after running out 4-2 winners in October's reverse fixture.

Team News

Aston Villa left-back Paula Tomas remains sidelined for Saturday's fixture after she underwent hip surgery last month.

There are also doubts surrounding the availability of Lucy Staniforth and Gabi Nunes due to ankle and back issues respectively.

Scotland international Kirsty Hanson will have to be assessed after she sat out the win over West Ham through injury.

As for the Seagulls, Dario Vidosic is likely to be without the services of Jorelyn Carabali, Vicky Losada and Madison Haley.

Goalkeeper Melina Loeck withdrew from Monday's lineup with a finger injury that she sustained in the pre-match warm-up, making her a doubt for the final match of the 2024-25 campaign.

Arsenal loanee Michelle Agyemang will return to the matchday squad after being ineligible for the game against her parent club.

Aston Villa Women possible starting lineup:
D'Angelo; Parker, Patten, Maritz; Grant, Nobbs, Baijings, Pacheco; Kearns; Salmon, Daly

Brighton & Hove Albion Women possible starting lineup:
Baggaley; Hayes, Bergsvand, Thorisdottir; Auee, Cankovic, Kirby, Symonds, Olislagers; Seike, Parris

We say: Aston Villa Women 3-2 Brighton & Hove Albion Women

Aston Villa and Brighton have both been involved in exciting matches in recent weeks, and we think that there will be plenty more goals to enjoy in Saturday's fixture.

We also believe that home advantage could give the Villans a slight edge, especially as they have already recorded a head-to-head home win in 2025, which is why we are predicting a Villa win for the day of the season.
