Darren Bent believes that Aston Villa should appoint a new manager who can bring "fresh ideas" to the table following the departure of Paul Lambert.
The Scotsman was sacked by the Premier League outfit last night following 10 games without a win in the top flight.
Bent, who is currently on loan at Derby County, struggled to gain regular first-team football when Lambert arrived at Villa Park in 2012.
"I think maybe they just they need a fresh approach really," Bent told talkSPORT. "I don't know who they have got in mind to become their new manager but someone needs to go in there with a bit of freshness, mix things up a little bit, and just try something new.
"They are in a tough position. If someone comes in with fresh ideas, new tactics, it might just give the whole place a lift, including the supporters, the staff, everyone associated with the club."
Tim Sherwood and USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann have been touted as possible candidates for the vacancy.
