Shay Given has said that cup appearances have given him hope after a "soul-destroying" time sitting on Aston Villa's bench.
Given was dropped in favour of Brad Guzan at the start of the season but played in Villa's FA Cup win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper is hopeful of starting tonight's League Cup semi-final with Bradford City, and is aiming for a Wembley final.
"You miss the buzz of playing games, I don't know what the manager's thoughts are but hopefully I will play at Bradford," Given told the Daily Star.
"It's a tough one but the manager has gone with Brad this season. When you work hard all week and come matchday you are not playing, it can be soul-destroying.
"These games have been good to me, the League Cup and looking forward to the FA Cup. It gives me something to work towards."
Villa travel to Valley Parade to take on Bradford at 7.45pm this evening.
