Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has said that he hopes the team have reached a "turning point" in their season following last weekend's goalless draw against Manchester City.
The Midlands outfit have had a poor season having claimed just one victory in 12 Premier League games, which has left them at the bottom of the league table.
Remi Garde was appointed as Tim Sherwood's successor last week and the gloom seems to have lifted for the time being after they managed to claim a point against City on Sunday.
"It's something for us to build on," Guzan told the club's official website. "It's obviously a step in the right direction, and a clean sheet is an added bonus.
"For us to get a result against one of the best teams in the country - not many teams do that. It's given us much hope that we can get results and that we can avoid the drop.
"When you're down at the bottom of the table you need a bit of luck, you need things to go your way and hopefully this is the turning point for us."
Villa will take on Everton at Goodison Park after the international break.
