Paul Lambert confident of Aston Villa improvement

Paul Lambert tells his Aston Villa team that there is only one way to stem the tide of vitriol from the terraces.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has admitted that he takes no pleasure in being the subject of discontent from the fanbase, but believes that a purple patch is not far away.

Villa supporters chanted "we want Lambert out" during their 1-0 FA Cup win over bottom-placed Championship club Blackpool last week - a game that was settled by Christian Benteke's 88th-minute winner.

The Villans have won just three of their last 17 Premier League outings, scoring seven times along the way, but the Scot is confident that the second half of the season will prove more fruitful.

"It is never nice to hear," he told Sky Sports News. "It probably won't help the team when they hear that but you can't stop anybody shouting, the only way is by winning.

"But the last three games has seen teams sit in against us. It is difficult to break that down but we have had chances.

"If you look at the first minutes of games we have had chances and if they go in it becomes a different game. We have to find that creativity spark to unlock it when it is as tight as that."

Lambert's side, who sit 12th in the table, face bottom-of-the-league Leicester City at the King Power Stadium at 3pm today.
