Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has described the return of Darren Bent from injury as a "big plus" for the club.
The striker was forced to miss the second half of last season after he ruptured ligaments in his ankle.
However, the 28-year-old is now fit for pre-season training and Lambert is looking forward to having the club's record signing back in action.
"He's a goalscorer, which every club needs," said the Scot. "When Darren was injured, I think the team struggled to get a goal.
"His goalscoring is phenomenal. He would have gone to the Euros if he was available, so it is a big plus for us to have him fit."
Villa start the upcoming Premier League campaign at newly-promoted West Ham United on Saturday, August 18.
