Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has warned Matthew Lowton not to get complacent following his performances for the club last season.
The 24-year-old defender played in 37 of Villa's Premier League fixtures during a campaign which saw the side avoid relegation.
"I am pretty sure the praise he's been getting is terrific for Matty himself but the most important thing is you don't rest on that," Lambert is quoted as saying by Goal.com "It's important you do it year after year after year.
"Once you start to do that, make a right name for yourself and start to win things and start to progress your career, then people can say things."
Lowton made 44 appearances in all competitions for Villa last term.
