Paul Lambert: "We have to force the game"

Paul Lambert says that his side must create more chances this weekend than they did last week at Upton Park.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has told his players that they must make improvements in the final third if they are to beat Everton.

The Scot saw his team defeated 1-0 at West Ham United on his managerial bow for the Villans last week.

Despite having 67% possession, Lambert was left frustrated by his side's inability to create chances at Upton Park.

The 43-year-old said that Villa will approach tomorrow's Premier League fixture with a high tempo and intensity.

"I was reasonably happy with the way we played with the ball, but the end product wasn't there which you have to have," the club's official website quotes Lambert as saying.

"I don't think you can have that much of the ball and not have a chance, I think that's wrong. It's up to us to rectify that and tomorrow gives us a chance. I am sure the lads will give it everything to try and win.

"In terms of approach it will be the same as the West Ham game. I always try and get on the front foot. I play a high tempo and a high intensity. We are at home and we have to get on that front foot - there's too many people come to watch not to. We have to force the game."

Lambert was confirmed as Alex McLeish's replacement at Villa Park in June.
