New Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has reportedly identified Steve Round as the ideal candidate to be his assistant.
Following his appointment to the Villa Park helm earlier this month, it was believed that Garde had been eager to recruit Gerald Baticle and Bruno Genesio.
Those moves were blocked by Lyon, though, which has left Garde's backroom staff short on numbers.
However, following a series of discussions, Round could be appointed to the position in time for Saturday's Premier League encounter against Everton, according to The Telegraph.
The report adds that Garde was keen to secure the services of someone that had previous experience of coaching in the English top flight.
Round worked with David Moyes at Everton and Manchester United, as well as having a spell at Newcastle United when Sam Allardyce was in charge at St James' Park.
