Aston Villa are reportedly contemplating whether to make a formal approach for Belgium manager Roberto Martinez.
On the back of five successive defeats which have left the club two points above the Premier League relegation zone, the West Midlands outfit parted ways with boss Dean Smith on Sunday.
A number of managers are being linked with the vacant position, including Rangers' Steven Gerrard and Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand.
According to Sky Sports News, the Villa hierarchy could look to hold discussions with Martinez over the coming days.
Despite currently being focused on winning the 2022 World Cup with Belgium, the Spaniard is said to be open to taking on a Premier League job.
While Villa will not rush the next appointment, they want to have someone in place for their next game against Brighton & Hove Albion after the international break. body check tags ::
