Scott Hogan has revealed that he has received well-wishes from fans and staff at parent club Aston Villa throughout his prolific loan spell with Midlands rivals Birmingham City.
The 27-year-old spent the first half of the season with Stoke City, where he scored only two goals in 15 outings before switching to Birmingham until the end of the campaign.
Hogan has since netted seven times in just eight Championship appearances for the Blues and was named Championship player of the month for February as a result of his free-scoring form.
"I'm not from the area so I'm not in with the rivalry as much but it doesn't matter about the rivalry, it had to be about myself, my decision and this is the one I made," he told Sky Sports News.
"In all fairness, you get the odd little bit of stick but I know a lot of Villa fans and players and they wish me luck every week. The Blues fans have welcomed me really well, too."
The striker has now scored only three fewer goals for Birmingham than he has managed in 61 games for Aston Villa since his £12m move in 2017.
