Former England defender Sol Campbell has revealed on social media that he wants to fill the managerial vacancy at Aston Villa.
The Premier League club are searching for a new boss after sacking Paul Lambert earlier this week following a 10-game winless run.
Campbell, who played for Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in his career, appears to have thrown his hat in the ring after posting a picture of Villa's club crest on Instagram with the message: "Another one bites the dust! Surely i've got a chance! Sol Campbell manager!"
When asked by a follower if he would really want the job, the 40-year-old replied: "To the end of the season. It Would be a challenge that i would want to take head on and win!"
Campbell, who retired from playing football in May 2012, has never held a managerial role at a club before.
