Ron Vlaar has insisted that he has no issues with Fabian Delph snatching the Aston Villa captaincy from him.
Manager Tim Sherwood handed the England international the armband during Vlaar's injury absence.
However, Vlaar has claimed that his main focus is what's best for the team, and believes that Delph has developed as a strong leader.
"It doesn't matter whether I wear the armband or not," Vlaar told the club's official website. "I think Fabian has developed as a leader of the team. He's ready for it now - you can see that on the pitch and you can see it off the pitch.
"He has grown as a leader and he's the right person for the job, but it's not about me or about Fabian being captain, it's about the team. I would still have liked to do the job, but it doesn't make a difference to me."
Vlaar's long-term future remains unclear as the defender's contract expires in the summer.
