Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann has admitted that it was a relief to get back on the scoresheet having waited four months for a goal.

Weimann scored in consecutive games against Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion in recent weeks, the second a crucial strike in his side's 4-3 comeback win against their local rivals.

"I want to keep going," Weimann told the Birmingham Mail. "I feel I can. It's like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders when you score goals as a forward.

"I always felt I was contributing but just not scoring. But as a forward you're desperate to score. That's what you live for. Your confidence is bound to dip if you go for a spell without a goal but once you hit the net, you get a burst of belief."

Villa are currently 10th in the Premier League.
