Danny Ings marked his Burnley send-off in style by inspiring the already-relegated Clarets to a 1-0 win at Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League.
Ings, who will leave the club this summer, opened the scoring after seven minutes with what proved the winning goal at Villa Park this afternoon.
The Villans had enough chances to salvage something but Tim Sherwood's side ran into goalkeeper Tom Heaton in inspired form.
Here, Sports Mole analyses how the players fared.
ASTON VILLA
Goal
Jed Steer: Could do little about the goal and only had one real save to make, which he did well in denying Boyd midway through the second half. Steady Premier League debut for the 22-year-old. (7/10)
Defence
Leandro Bacuna: Poor defensive header and was then out-jumped by Barnes, who headed back into the box for Ings to open the scoring after seven minutes. Bacuna was one of Villa's better defenders from their horror shows last week but struggled today. (5/10)
Nathan Baker: First game back from a knee injury but there was little to no signs of rustiness from the centre-back. Good performance. (6/10)
Ron Vlaar: Allowed Ings to climb above him for the opener, and missed a glorious chance to equalise by thumping a half-volley over the bar. (5/10)
Charles N'Zogbia: Deployed in an unfamiliar left-back role in the absence of Kieran Richardson, but the Frenchman neglected his defensive responsibilities for much of the clash. (4/10)
Midfield
Tom Cleverley: Made some excellent forward runs from midfield but his teammates failed to pick him out. Decent display overall and received a good applause when he left the field on what could be his last game for the club. (5/10)
Ashley Westwood: Unlucky not to score after seeing his acrobatic effort superbly tipped over by Heaton toward the end of the first half. (6/10)
Fabian Delph: Heavily involved as usual but his final ball was lacking on occasion this afternoon. Also fortunate to avoid a booking after committing the foul that cut short Barnes's afternoon in the first half. (5/10)
Jack Grealish: Saw a lot of the ball but struggled to do anything positive with it. Difficult afternoon for the youngster. (5/10)
Attack
Gabriel Agbonlahor: Had a chance to boost his prospects of starting the FA Cup final, but if this was an audition for Wembley, then he fluffed his lines. (4/10)
Christian Benteke: Eventually grew into the contest following an anonymous start, but lacked enough service to maintain his red-hot form of recent months. (5/10)
Substitutes
Scott Sinclair: Replaced Cleverley to boost the hosts' chances of an equaliser, but Sinclair added little to nothing with a modest cameo. (4/10)
BURNLEY
Goal
Tom Heaton: Showed why he deserves his recent England call-up with a host of excellent saves, with one to deny Westwood in the first half particularly impressive. Man of the match. (8/10)
Defence
Kieran Trippier: Guilty of not being tight enough to Benteke on a number of occasions, with the big Belgian giving the right-back a torrid time. (4/10)
Michael Keane: The youngster barely put a foot wrong all afternoon and justified his selection ahead of the aging Michael Keane at centre-back. (6/10)
Jason Shackell: Excellent alongside Keane to help combat Benteke and Agbonlahor, particularly in the second half. (6/10)
Ben Mee: Good defensive display from the left-back for the most part. Did not venture forward too often but managed to combat the adventurous Bacuna well. (6/10)
Midfield
Scott Arfield: Fizzed in one or two decent crosses but overall he did not do it enough this afternoon. Likely to go back down with Burnley into the Championship next season. (5/10)
David Jones: Economic in possession and barely put a foot wrong all afternoon. Good performance from the midfielder but Premier League teams won't be banging his door down this summer. (6/10)
Fredrik Ulvestad: Made his full Premier League debut but the youngster gave a good account of himself in midfield. Subbed on 65 minutes for Taylor. (6/10)
George Boyd: Could, and definitely should, have made it 2-0 midway through the second half when he was denied in a one-on-one situation with Villa goalkeeper Steer. Okay overall from the winger. (5/10)
Attack
Ashley Barnes: Only lasted a little over half an hour following a clumsy challenge by Delph. Great headed assist for Ings's opener. (6/10)
Danny Ings: Opened the scoring on his last game for the Clarets and could have had another shortly after but fluffed his lines. In any case, Burnley will miss him next season. (6/10)
Substitutes
Sam Vokes: Had plenty of time to make an impact after replacing Barnes with an hour left, but struggled to have the same impact as his predecessor. (5/10)
Matt Taylor: Replaced Ulvestad on 65 minutes and helped Burnley over the finish line with an industrious display. (6/10)
