Aston Villa edged out a win over League Two side Hereford United at Villa Park, moving into the third round of the Carling Cup.
Hereford held Villa to a goalless first half, but American defender Eric Lichaj put Villa a goal up with just 10 minutes remaining thanks to a close range strike to the centre of the net.
Villa sealed the victory with a second goal three minutes from time with a header from Nathan Delfouneso from deep inside the area.
