Bolton Wanderers scored twice in three minutes to complete a turnaround and claim all three points at Villa Park this evening.
Aston Villa had a chance to open the scoring in the first minute when Chris Herd was left unmarked at a corner but headed his effort over from six yards.
Stephen Warnock then smashed the crossbar after a period of dominance with an effort from outside the area as Alex McLeish's men went in level at the break.
Villa opened the scoring on the hour mark when Charles N'Zogbia surged to the by-line and produced a low cross which found an unmarked Warnock at the back post to tap in.
The lead lasted less than two minutes, however, as Mark Davies was felled in the box by Carlos Cuellar, with Martin Petrov converting from 12 yards.
Bolton completed a three-minute turnaround when David N'Gog converted following some neat footwork from Chris Eagles.
Villa seemed stunned by Bolton's quickfire double and failed to make an impression on Adam Bogdan's goal in the remaining 25 minutes.
Bolton remain in the bottom three, a point off Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers but Owen Coyle's men have a game in hand. Defeat for Villa means that they are just three points from the drop zone.
