Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Aston Villa.
Having dropped into the Premier League relegation zone, Villa are under pressure to produce an upturn in results over the coming months.
Manager Dean Smith also faces a fight to keep hold of his job in the dugout, despite only recently penning a long-term contract.
According to TRT Spor, Smith is interested in bringing Vida to the West Midlands during the January transfer window.
The report claims that Villa have already made a £5.1m bid for the versatile defender, who represented Croatia on their way to the 2018 World Cup final.
While Besiktas are said to be considering the offer, it would come as a surprise if they do not demand a bigger fee for the 30-year-old.
