Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has acknowledged that he has been delighted with the performances of defender Alan Hutton.
The Scotland international has been forced to play out of position at left-back in recent weeks, but the 33-year-old has starred as the club look to earn promotion to the Premier League.
Hutton's contract expires in the summer, but Bruce has called on the hierarchy of the West Midlands outfit to offer fresh terms to the player.
At a press conference, Bruce told reporters: "If I get my way there will certainly be a contract offered to him. I've continued to say this about Alan Hutton.
"He is everything I enjoy about a player. He goes home, is one of the first in, and you can see his fitness levels at 34 are quite remarkable. He's been terrific since I've been here."
Hutton has made a total of 30 appearances in the Championship this season.
