Carlos Cuellar has revealed that he will leave Aston Villa on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The Spanish defender, who joined the club from Rangers in 2008, made the announcement after Villa effectively secured their status as a Premier League side courtesy of a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur earlier today.
"Very happy because, after my last match at Villa Park, the team will stay one more year where it has to be," the 30-year-old wrote on Twitter.
"Thank u very much for these fantastic 4 years. [It] has been an honor to be part of one of the biggest clubs. I will miss u forever in my heart."
Cuellar has been linked with a return to his homeland in the summer.
