Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided against making another approach for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish before today's 5pm transfer deadline.
Grealish had been expected to leave his boyhood club this summer in order to ease their financial concerns, but investment in the club last month reduced their need to sell off their star players.
Spurs have been long-running favourites for the 22-year-old's signature and are understood to have made a £25m offer yesterday, having already seen one previous bid turned down.
However, new Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris has insisted that Grealish is not for sale at any price, and Sky Sports News reports that the Tottenham have now given up hope of prising him away from the Championship outfit.
The player was understood to be keen on a move back to the Premier League, but he is now resigned to staying at the Championship outfit and could sign a new deal with the club.
Grealish played 83 minutes and set up the first goal in Villa's season-opening 3-1 win over Hull City on Monday night.
