Aston Villa have reportedly opened discussions over a summer deal for Marseille's Matteo Guendouzi.

The 25-year-old spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan with Lazio, making 46 appearances for the Italian side in all competitions, including 33 outings in Serie A.

Guendouzi has another 12 months left to run on his contract with Marseille, but he is expected to depart during this summer's transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Villa are in preliminary talks over a move for the former Arsenal midfielder during this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Villa head coach Unai Emery is a huge admirer of Guendouzi, having worked with him at Arsenal, and the Frenchman could now be heading back to the Premier League.

Emery has allegedly contacted Guendouzi to discuss a switch, and he is viewed as a potential replacement for Douglas Luiz, with the Brazilian being heavily linked with a move to Juventus.

Meanwhile, Lyon are reportedly set to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala in a £25m deal during this summer's transfer window.

The 26-year-old was a regular for Forest in the first half of the 2023-24 campaign, making 22 appearances in all competitions, but he moved to Lyon on loan in the final stages of the January transfer window.

The switch was a loan-to-buy, and according to Football Insider, the French outfit are now nearing a £25m deal for the midfielder.

The report claims that a payment structure has already been agreed between the two sides, and the transfer is expected to be confirmed before the end of the month.

Mangala made the move to Forest from Stuttgart in 2022, and he is set to leave the Reds having represented them on 53 occasions, scoring twice and registering one assist.

Elsewhere, Fulham are allegedly interested in signing Luton Town defender Teden Mengi during this summer's transfer window.

Marco Silva's side are expected to move for two new centre-backs in the upcoming market, having lost Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer to Chelsea.

Tim Ream, meanwhile, is believed to be close to making the move to MLS.

According to the London Evening Standard, Fulham are interested in signing Mengi, who is being tipped to leave Luton following their relegation to the Championship.

The report claims that Silva's team are weighing up a bid for the 22-year-old, while Crystal Palace are said to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

Mengi joined Luton from Manchester United in August 2023, and the defender made 35 appearances for the Hatters last season, including 30 outings in the Premier League. body check tags ::
