Aston Villa have reportedly stepped up their efforts to win the race for Burnley defender James Tarkowski.
After Burnley's relegation from the Premier League, Tarkowski will now depart Turf Moor after making 219 appearances for the Clarets in all competitions since 2016.
The 29-year-old will not be short of offers ahead of 2022-23 with Everton and Fulham both said to be willing to offer the England international a lucrative contract.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Villa have blown their respective proposals out of the water with the offer of a deal worth £120,000 per week.
That is allegedly double what Tarkowski has been earning at Burnley, and a third more than what is currently on the table from Everton.
Villa's owners are eager to put together a squad capable of qualifying for Europe next season, the West Midlands outfit having already pulled off a coup in signing Marseille's Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer. body check tags ::
