Aston Villa are reportedly making good progress in their attempt to sign goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic from Belgian side Gent.
The Villans previously missed out on the 28-year-old in the 2015-16 season, which ended with them dropping down to the Championship.
According to the Birmingham Mail, however, Villa are back in for Kalinic and could strike a deal as soon as the transfer window officially opens in two weeks' time.
Kalinic joined Gent from Hajduk Split in January 2017 and was named the Belgian top-flight's best keeper in his first half-season, earning rumoured interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
The report indicates that Villa are in a strong position to sign the 14-cap Croatia international, though, with the player said to be in Birmingham to discuss a move.
