Aston Villa are said to be planning to offer defender Ron Vlaar a new contract to ward off potential suitors.
The Netherlands international has attracted the attention of clubs including Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers following his impressive performances at the World Cup, the Daily Star reports.
Vlaar has just 12 months remaining on his current Villa deal, with manager Paul Lambert said to be hoping to act swiftly to tie him down to a new long-term deal.
Other key players including Fabian Delph and Gabby Agbonlahor are also entering the final year of their contracts, but extension talks are thought to have been delayed while the club is up for sale.
