Valencia boss Juan Antonio Pizzi has bemoaned the chain of events that led to his side conceding the first goal against Atletico Madrid in their Copa del Rey last-16 clash last night.
The tie was level at 1-1 from the first leg at the Mestalla, but goals from Diego Godin and Raul Garcia booked Atletico's spot in the next round.
However, there was controversy about the award of the corner that led to Atletico's first. Valencia stopper Vicente Guaita was adjudged to have tipped an effort from Godin over the crossbar, when replays suggested that no contact had been made.
"Guaita didn't touch the ball. Refereeing mistakes happened in the past, they happen now and will happen in the future," Pizzi told reporters at a press conference.
Valencia return to league action against Malaga on Friday.
