Atletico Madrid striker David Villa has admitted that there is 'strong competition' for places in the Spain squad.
However, ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa, the 31-year-old has claimed that he is ready for the "battle".
"There's competition for a place in every position," he told reporters at a press conference.
"During the past few years we've seen several good players been omitted because there just isn't room for everyone. The competition to secure a place is fierce and continues every day. We have to battle with each other to gain a place in the list and try to achieve something important again.
"What we did in South Africa wasn't easy. We've got a lot of work to do before the tournament starts. We have the potential to triumph again".
The experienced forward has scored 56 times in 92 caps for Spain.
