Aston Villa are reportedly lining up a summer bid for Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier.
The 29-year-old joined Diego Simeone's side from Tottenham Hotspur last summer and made 33 appearances for the Spanish outfit in all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign.
However, according to The Telegraph, the England international could be available in the current market, and Villa boss Dean Smith wants to secure a deal ahead of the new season.
The report claims that the Premier League side are open to taking Trippier on loan if they are unable to agree a permanent deal with the Madrid giants.
The former Manchester City youngster made 114 appearances for Tottenham before leaving England behind to make the move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
Villa are due to open their 2020-21 Premier League campaign at home to Sheffield United on September 19.
