Atletico Madrid have announced that they have reached a "preliminary agreement" with Monaco to sign midfielder Thomas Lemar.
Lemar, who was linked with a move to Liverpool and Arsenal last summer, is expected to switch to the Spanish capital after his participation in the World Cup with France.
"Atletico de Madrid and AS Monaco has achieved a preliminary agreement over the transfer of Thomas Lemar to our club," a club statement said.
"Over the next days, both clubs will work to close the agreement for the definitive transfer."
The deal could have implications for the future of Atletico star Antoine Griezmann, who refused to reveal where he would be playing next season.
