Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has reportedly targeted a move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa as he attempts to make a statement signing.
The Spain international scored 52 goals in three Premier League seasons with Chelsea prior to joining Atletico in January 2018.
According to the Daily Mail, the Toffees are keen to bring the 30-year-old back to English football this summer.
Everton were planning to reduce their bloated squad during the close season, but Moshiri has supposedly indicated that he is willing to splash out on a marquee signing to lead the line.
Yannick Bolasie, Mohamed Besic, Kevin Mirallas, Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse are all believed to be on their way out of Goodison Park, freeing up wages to bring Costa to Merseyside.
Costa's strained relationship with Atletico could work in Everton's favour, with the fiery striker struggling for form last season before being handed an eight-game ban for insulting a referee.
