Diego Godin has revealed that he wants to end his career with Atletico Madrid due to his extreme fondness for the club.
The centre-back, who played a key role in Atleti's La Liga 2013-14 title-winning campaign, was reportedly the subject of interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
Godin, however, ultimately renewed his contract at the Vicente Calderon and the 29-year-old has said that he will be with the club "to the death".
"I'm with Atletico to the death. I'm a fan again, I've become enchanted by the club, so I decided to stay and every day I'm happier I made that decision," Godin told AS. "I feel I can give more to Atletico and we can achieve important things. The best is yet to come."
Atletico are currently joint-top of La Liga alongside Barcelona following a nine-game unbeaten run.
