Diego Forlan has encouraged his former club Atletico Madrid to make a move to sign Edinson Cavani in the summer.
The La Liga champions have recently been linked with the Uruguayan, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain.
If a switch comes to fruition, Forlan believes that his fellow countryman would be an "ideal" addition to Diego Simeone's attacking options at the Vicente Calderon.
"It would be spectacular. He is a great forward and is in a great moment. I think that his style of play is ideal for Atleti because he is a quick player, who likes to counter-attack and who likes the spaces," he told Spanish radio station El partido de las 12.
"I think that Atletico, except for the arrival of Mandzukic, have always been characterised by this type of player, like Torres, Aguero, Diego Costa, me or Falcao."
Cavani, 28, has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season.
