Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is reportedly interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Augusto Fernandez in the January transfer window.
Earlier this week, Simeone hinted that he would be in the market for a new central midfielder in January after losing Tiago for three months to a fractured leg.
According to AS, Fernandez is interesting the capital outfit, with the 29-year-old's performances this season drawing the attention of the club.
Celta only own 50% of the Argentine's contract, with the other half being held by Velez Sarsfield, and the same report claims that if the Argentine club want to sell, Fernandez could depart for less than £4m.
Fernandez has scored once in 11 league games for Celta this season and has been key to their strong start to the campaign.
