West Ham United have reportedly added Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez to a list of potential transfer targets as they look to add to their options this month.
Suarez played 24 times last season as Atletico won La Liga and reached the final of the Champions League, but reports have suggested that Diego Simeone would be willing to allow him to leave.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham were considering launching a loan move for the 27-year-old as they were preparing for Alex Song's departure to represent Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Song's decision to retire from international football means that he will stay at Upton Park, but it remains unclear whether that choice will have an impact on a move for Suarez.
West Ham could face competition if they look to secure Suarez's services, with AC Milan rumoured to be ready to make a loan offer to Atletico.
