Australia have reportedly dismissed coach Holger Osieck just hours after being thrashed 6-0 by France in Paris last night.
Osciek's position was under threat heading into the friendly international, following a defeat by the same scoreline to Brazil just over a month ago.
France ran riot against the Socceroos, with Olivier Giroud, Franck Ribery, Karim Benzema and Yohan Cabaye all on target for Les Blues in an emphatic victory.
Football Federation of Australia CEO David Gallop has decided to take swift action following another heavy defeat and dismissed Osieck with immediate effect, according to Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper.
Gallop has put assistant Aurelio Vidmar in charge for Tuesday's friendly with Canada, with an official announcement expected shortly.
Osciek has been sacked despite guiding Australia to next summer's World Cup finals, after conceding 19 goals in his last four games in charge.
