Lyon chief Juninho has slammed the departing Memphis Depay for his attitude around the club, claiming that the "whole team had to revolve around him".
The Dutch international finished this season as Lyon's top goalscorer after finding the back of the net 21 times, with only Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe scoring more in Ligue 1.
However, Depay's contract is set to expire on June 30 and he is expected to leave the French club on a free transfer this summer, amid links with Spanish giants Barcelona.
Speaking to Brazilian production OLTV, Juninho had strong words for Depay ahead of his exit from the club: "Memphis Depay just wanted a team for himself. It's not a criticism, I had a good relationship with him. But on the other hand, the whole team had to revolve around him and that is very hard. Everyone should feel like they're working the same.
"There are only four players in the world where you have to do everything for them: Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Mbappe. If you have one of them, then the team can revolve around them.
"Sorry, I think that Depay is strong, but he's not at their level. And I think that he has to work harder without the ball."
Depay arrived at the Groupama Stadium in 2017 and has gone on to score 76 goals and provide 55 assists in 178 appearances for the club. body check tags ::
