Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has backed Barcelona star Lionel Messi to win the prestigious Ballon d'Or trophy next month.
The winner of the award, which recognises the player deemed to have played the best over the past year, will be announced on December 2 during a ceremony in France.
Mbappe, who is on the 2019 shortlist after finishing fourth in 2018, has said Messi deserves it for his exploits over the course of the year.
Speaking to Spiegel, the former Monaco forward said: "In individual terms he [Messi] was the best this year."
The Argentine international has won the award five times previously but the most recent was in 2015, with Cristiano Ronaldo winning it in 2016 and 2017 and Luka Modric topping the poll last year.
