Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has insisted that he is "not worried" despite his team being on their worst La Liga run for 17 years, having only managed to win one of their last eight fixtures in Spain's top flight.

The Catalan giants took the lead in Saturday's clash against Getafe, with Jules Kounde making the breakthrough in the ninth minute, but Mauro Arambarri levelled the scores in the 34th minute of the contest.

Barcelona were unable to find a second, with the result leaving them third in the La Liga table, five points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, who suffered a shock 1-0 loss at Leganes earlier in the day.

Flick's side had won their opening four games of 2025 in the cup competitions, including a 5-2 success over Real Madrid in the final of the Spanish Super Cup on January 12.

However, the draw with Getafe made it just one win from their last eight in the league, which is their worst run in 17 years.

Barcelona's last success in Spain's top flight came away to Mallorca on December 3, while they have only picked up two points from their last four matches against Real Betis, Leganes, Atletico and Getafe.

Barcelona dropped more valuable points against Getafe

"I'm not worried. I'm aware of the situation, I know that we've dropped a lot of points in the last games, that's not what we want, and we can do much better. But in the end, you can see that we've started the season really well, in this new year, and I'm happy about that," Flick told reporters after the clash in Madrid.

"But now we have to show it. We have to show it in Lisbon because it's a very important game. Winning three points there means we're through to the next round. That's what we want, but we have to play much better.

"Winning the league is the most difficult thing. But it's not over yet, there are still some games to play. We will fight until the end. Today we got an extra point, but we dropped two points. However, we have to look forward and do better next time.

"I counted some of the chances we had, and usually with those chances we are able to score one or two more goals, but we didn't, so we have to accept that. That's the way it is.

"In the first half, we lacked speed in our game. The passing wasn't fast enough, we didn't switch the game to the other side as well as we should have. Also, the positioning of the players in the first half wasn't good.

"We wanted to do better, and that's what allowed them to get back into the game. I think in the second half we tried everything and in the end, we have to accept the result."

When are Barcelona back in action?

Barcelona's attention is now on the Champions League, with the Catalan giants preparing to head to Portugal for a European fixture with Benfica on Tuesday night; Flick's side are currently second in the Champions League table, three points behind the leaders Liverpool.

The Catalan team will then return to La Liga action against Valencia on January 26, before concluding the month and indeed their Champions League league-phase campaign at home to Serie A team Atalanta BC on January 29. body check tags ::
