Barcelona were held to a 2-2 draw against league leaders Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium.

The hosts took the lead after 11 minutes when Eric Abidal turned the ball into his own net.

Barca were on level terms two minutes later as Lionel Messi's incisive pass allowed Pedro to drive the ball into the Valencia net.

The home side were ahead again ten minutes later courtesy of Pablo Hernandez's simple finish.

It took the European champions until the 76th minute to find the equaliser, with Cesc Fabregas slotting home after another assist by Messi.

The draw keeps Valencia top of the league, while Barcelona move up to fourth place.
