Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is hopeful that Ronald Koeman will stay at Camp Nou this summer.
The Dutchman led the Catalan giants to the Copa del Rey title in his first season at the helm, but the club disappointed in both La Liga and the Champions League.
Koeman still has one year left on his contract at Camp Nou, but a recent report claimed that the 58-year-old had been informed by president Joan Laporta that Barca are looking for a replacement.
De Jong, who was a key player under the Dutchman during the 2020-21 campaign, is in the dark when it comes to the details, but the 24-year-old is hopeful that there is not a change at the helm.
"A lot is being written now. I haven't had any contact with people from the club now, nor with Koeman, so I don't know what's going on. What I hear, you hear too. I'll wait," De Jong told Nu.nl.
"I don't know if that's true [that Koeman will leave]. I can't judge that. All I can say is that I have a good relationship with Koeman. For me he is a good coach. So I hope he stays."
Barca are believed to be on the verge of securing deals for Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero and Georginio Wijnaldum, with all three players set to arrive at Camp Nou on free transfers. body check tags ::
