Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu is unlikely to return to AC Milan on a permanent deal this summer, according to agent Gines Carvajal.
The 23-year-old spent four months with the Italian club in the second half of last season, playing a part in seven goals across his 17 league appearances.
Milan are interested in signing Deulofeu, but matters are complicated by Barcelona who inserted a buy-back clause into his Everton contract.
Carvajal says that the player's future is now down to Everton and Barca to decide, with the Rossoneri left waiting in the wings.
"I cannot say much about Deulofeu's future," he told TMW. "Everton and Barcelona are in charge, these two clubs will decide his future. We can only wait to see what happens. Milan could be an option, but it will be very difficult."
Deulofeu, who joined Everton from Barcelona in 2015, is said to be available for his former club to purchase for £10.5m.
